Rep. Lloyd Doggett

On Tuesday, Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, became the first member of the U.S. House of Representatives to call on the president to step aside.

“Recognizing that Biden, unlike Trump, President Biden’s first commitment has always been to our country, not himself, I am hopeful that he will make the difficult and painful decision to withdraw,” Doggett, who has represented a district based in Austin since 1995, asserted in a statement.

“I respectfully call on him to do so.”
