6 Christian figures react to Trump post depicting himself as Jesus-like healer: 'Blasphemy'

6. JD Vance

Speaking with Fox News on Monday, Vice President JD Vance said he believed the AI-generated image was “a joke” and that Trump removed it after realizing “a lot of people weren’t understanding his humor.”

“I think the president likes to mix it up over social media, and that’s one of the good things about this president,” Vance said.

Vance, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, also addressed tensions between the Trump administration and the Vatican over disagreements about the conflict in Iran.

“We can respect the pope, we certainly have a good relationship with the Vatican, but we’re also going to disagree on substantive questions from time to time,” he said. “I think it’s a totally reasonable thing and isn’t particularly newsworthy.”
