Before ultimately choosing Rex Tillerson to be his secretary of state, it was reported that Trump was considering Huntsman for the job.

In a story published last December, The Associated Press noted Huntsman was on the list of those being considered for the federal government position.

"One of the sources said Trump was open to expanding his short list of secretary of state prospects. Among the possibilities: Jon Huntsman, a former Republican Utah governor who also served as the ambassador to China and speaks Mandarin," reported the AP.
