One woman, writing in as "Sad Sister," asked advice columnist Amy Dickinson how she can best exclude her divorced, struggling sister from an annual family shopping vacation. Calling herself an "active churchgoer," the writer was probably expecting a sympathetic response to her dilemma and sage tips on how to let this needy sister down easy.
