But almost nothing could have prepared them for the breathtaking sight that unfolded as they went out on a canoe. Lucky for us, they had a camera!
In this video, the friends glide through the River Shannon in Ireland when a black cloud takes over the sky, but this cloud doesn't merely drift. It pivots and dives and splits in choreographed motion. It's amazing. What they're witnessing is a murmuration, a flock of European starlings taking to the sky and flying in unpredictable formations to evade a predator.
