Android Ice Cream Sandwich Coming In October to Samsung Nexus Prime and Galaxy S2

Android’s latest OS, Ice Cream Sandwich is scheduled to be released in October, and will debut with the Samsung Nexus Prime smartphone.

Notion Ink CEO Rohan Shravan confirmed on the company’s blog on Saturday that Ice Cream Sandwich will be released in late October. Two weeks earlier, chairman of Google Eric Schmidt tipped that the OS would be released between October and November.

The specific release date has not been divulged, however rumors indicate that Samsung’s latest smartphone, the Nexus Prime will be released on November 3 on the Verizon network and will run on the new OS.

It is said that the Nexus Prime will debut on Sprint and AT&T's 4G networks on November 24.

Google has confirmed on its official blog that the Nexus Prime will feature a holographic user interface, more multitasking, a new launcher and richer widgets.

On top of running on the Ice Cream sandwich OS, the smartphone’s specs include a 5MP camera with 1080p video recording, 4.5-inch Display and a dual-core processor.

It is expected that the Android 4.0 OS will be used for both smartphones and tablets.

“Our goal with Ice Cream Sandwich is to deliver one operating system that works everywhere, regardless of device. Ice Cream Sandwich will bring everything you love about Honeycomb on your tablet to your phone,” Google stated on its official blog.

Soon after its release, the OS will run on the new Notion Ink Adam Android tablet and rumors speculate that the newly released Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone will also be updated to run on Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Samsung Galaxy S2, Epic 4G Touch was released on the Sprint network on September 16 and will soon be released on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks.
