To call Gina Pearson a problem student in Cherylyn Straubmuller's freshman math class would be an understatement. Problem students talk during class. Pearson threw a golf ball at Straubmuller, hitting her in the head.
But instead of leaving Pearson to languish in detention for the year, Straubmuller showed her student an unbelievable level of trust. That made all the difference in the teen's life, which was supposed to be headed nowhere, but instead looks incredibly hopeful.
