Anti-Porn Groups Host Annual Day of Prayer to Fight Against Sexual Exploitation

Credit :

To bring awareness to the sexual exploitation of women and minors in the porn industry and illegal sex trafficking business, a coalition of national organizations joined Morality in Media Tuesday for its annual national day of prayer to bring comfort and healing to all who are impacted by these sex industries.

Hysen Sisco, a spokesperson with Morality in Media, told The Christian Post that the "National Day of Prayer to Strengthen the Fight Against Pornography and Sexual Exploitation," asks "those concerned with the pervasive influences of pornography and other forms of sexual exploitation to pray for those involved in the fight and those struggling with the damaging affects."

"Last year, we saw an overwhelming outpouring of support from thousands around the country. Many wonderful events and opportunities occurred, we feel, because of these efforts," Sisco told CP. "We hope to get the same results so we can further our mission to defend human dignity and confront sexual exploitation."

On the day of prayer's webpage, Morality in Media offers a list of suggested prayer requests for those taking part.

These suggested prayers include:

Strengthen the partners of pornography users that they will be healed, find understanding and know what is best for themselves and their family.

Protect children from exposure as long as possible and help them make sense of right and wrong once they are exposed. Help them to feel dignity and self-worth.

This year's day of prayer comes not long after the anti-pornography group elected a new member to its board of sirectors.

Last Friday, The Most Rev. Paul S. Loverde, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, Virginia, was elected to the board.

"It is a great honor to our board, our staff, and our contributors to have Bishop Loverde, the leading Catholic cleric in America opposing pornography, join our board of birectors," Patrick Trueman, CEO of Morality in Media, said in a statement. "We will all gain immeasurably from Bishop Loverde's wisdom, his decades of experience in opposing the sexual exploitation of our culture, as well as his spiritual guidance."

Trueman commented during last year's day of prayer that "the war on pornography can only be won with the blessing of Almighty God."

"Therefore, to aid the anti-pornography movement, we ask all who can to humbly join with us to seek these blessings," Trueman added. "This day is set aside to help those who are struggling with pornography addictions as well as their families, and to inspire and encourage those involved in this fight."

Several organizations signed on as cosponsors for this year's day of prayer, including the Family Research Council, American Family Association, Women for Decency, the National Day of Prayer, Wall Builders, Wisconsin Family Action, Jonah International, and Route 1520.
