'Better Call Saul' Season 2 Cast News, Update: Show Runners Talk Spinoff Success, Will Walter White Appear?
Details about the upcoming second season of AMC's hit TV drama series "Better Call Saul" are scarce but the team behind the "Breaking Bad" prequel recently sat down with the press to express their gratitude for the phenomenal success of the new show.
"I'm just glad it just didn't take an enormous dump when it came out," series co-creator Vince Gilligan said at the annual TV Summit on Tuesday. "That was very gratifying for me."
Joining Gilligan was supervising producer Gennifer Hutchinson, who talked about Bob Odenkirk's stellar performance in both shows as well as the fateful evolution of the character.
"The fact that people have embraced Bob's performance as Jimmy McGill and really gotten into this character, the audience feels the same as us, which is that we love him so much, we're a little bit sad he's going to turn into Saul Goodman," she said.
Gilligan, meanwhile, dished out that the second season, which is apparently close in wrapping up its production phase, is "actually going to surprise people."
"It's not what we thought it would be," he teased.
On related news, avid followers have long been rallying for the possibility of "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston to appear in the spinoff series.
The people from Extra.com caught up with the actor at the red carpet of the 2015 Tony Awards in New York. He was asked if his iconic character will be appearing in Saul.
"I love 'Better Call Saul,'" the actor said. "Yes, it is possible."
"I can't say any more than that, but if Vince Gilligan wants me to be on 'Better Call Saul,'" Cranston added. "That's all I have to know."
