Watch: Chris Pratt teaches courage, resilience in ‘Way of the Warrior Kid’ trailer

Chris Pratt is trading superhero battles for a different kind of fight in the upcoming Apple TV film “Way of the Warrior Kid,” a family adventure exploring resilience and the meaning of true courage.
The newly released trailer offers a first look at Pratt as Jake, a decorated Navy SEAL who takes his struggling young nephew under his wing and teaches him that becoming a warrior isn’t just about physical strength, but mental resilience and character.
Based on the bestselling novel by former Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, the film stars Jude Hill as Marc, a middle school student facing bullying and struggling with fitting in with his peers. When his uncle Jake arrives to spend the summer recovering from an injury, Marc finds an unlikely mentor.
Determined to help his nephew stand up for himself, Jake develops an intensive training program dubbed “Operation Warrior Kid,” drawing on lessons from his years in the military. Jake challenges his nephew to confront his fears and build discipline: “Warriors aren’t born, they’re made,” Jake tells Marc. But along the way, the decorated veteran must also confront his own struggles.
The film is directed by McG, whose credits include “Charlie’s Angels” and “Terminator Salvation.” Linda Cardellini stars as Marc’s mother, Sarah, alongside Ava Torres, Levi McConaughey, Darien Sills-Evans, Carl McDowell and Parker Young. Pratt also serves as a producer on the project.
The project marks another family-oriented role for Pratt, whose career has spanned blockbuster franchises including “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Jurassic World” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”
The actor, who has been outspoken about his Christian faith, has previously emphasized the importance of using his Hollywood platform to encourage others and speak openly about his beliefs.
In a previous interview with The Christian Post, Pratt reflected on raising four children with a strong foundation and using his influence to encourage the next generation.
“I'm a father of four. I want to raise my children with an understanding that their dad was unashamed of his faith in Jesus, and with a profound understanding of the power of prayer, and the grace and the love and the joy that can come from a relationship with Jesus,” the 47-year-old actor told CP.
The actor, who previously partnered with the prayer app Hallow, also expressed concern about the challenges facing young people, including rising anxiety and the influence of technology.
“I want to teach my kids to be in the world, not of it,” Pratt said. “We’re in a strange time. We have an entire generation being raised to be incredibly anxious. Higher rates of self-harm, more isolation, depression, it’s alarming.”
The actor also said his desire to promote uplifting content stems in part from his responsibility as a father and his commitment to sharing his faith despite potential criticism.
“I care enough about Jesus to take a stand, even if it cost me. It could cost me everything, but I don't care,” he told CP. “It's worth it to me because this is what I'm called to do, it’s where my heart is.”
“Way of the Warrior Kid” premieres globally Nov. 25 on Apple TV, just ahead of Thanksgiving. Watch the trailer below.
