Christian radio pioneer passes away

A pioneer in Christian radio passed away earlier today due to complications following a recent heart bypass surgery. Marlin Maddoux, the founder and president of International Christian Media and host of Point of View Radio Talk Show died just before noon on March 4, 2004 at Baylor Medical Center in Irving, Texas. He was 70.

Maddoux, a noted journalist and author, was best known for his role as host for “Point of View”, a daily two-hour talk show heard via satellite on more than 360 stations nationwide, and around the world by shortwave. Maddoux, founder and host of the issues-oriented talk radio program for more than twenty years, covered a broad range of issues and current events affecting households, beliefs, schools, government, churches, and basic freedoms from a conservative Christian perspective. In 1994, Christianity Today magazine called Point of View America’s “most popular live Christian call-in show.”

Maddoux was also founder of USA Radio Network, one of today’s fastest growing news radio networks in the nation, with more than 1,300 affiliated radio stations across the nation. In the year following the founding of USA Radio Network, Maddoux was given the National Religious Broadcasters Award of Merit.

Funeral services are not yet settled, but will be awaiting confirmation. Maddoux is survived Mary Maddoux, his wife of 49 years, four children, and ten grandchildren.
