Texas Pastor Ryan Binkley, who is running a longshot presidential campaign, issued a statement via email in response to the news of DeSantis dropping out of the race.

"I have the utmost respect for Governor DeSantis, and for all he has accomplished in the great state of Florida. I am certain he will continue to have a positive impact in public service moving forward," Binkley stated.

"While this is a disappointing day for his supporters in New Hampshire and elsewhere, I ask that they consider our message and campaign as an alternative. We need new leadership in this country to overcome the serious challenges we face. I will bring that leadership to the people of our great nation."

In an interview with CP last year, Binkley said that while he voted for Trump in 2020, seeing him as "the best candidate at the time," he wanted to be the fresh leadership in Washington.

"It's time for a new day in America. It's time for us to turn the page," said Binkley in 2023. "In Ecclesiastes, it says there's a time for war and a time for peace and a time to tear down and a time to build up. I really believe it's a time for healing in our country and for us to move forward for the best days ahead."
