The President and CEO of one of the nation's largest child development organizations has been elected to the board of directors of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). According to Colorado-based Compassion International, Dr. Wess Stafford will serve a three-year term, guiding policy and direction of the international association of Christian communicators.

"I am so honored to work with other leaders of Christian organizations at the NRB to support ministry over the airwaves," Stafford said following his election to NRB's board.

With over 1,700 member organizations representing millions of viewers, listeners, and readers, the Virginia-based NRB exists to "represent the Christian broadcasters’ right to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world."

Stafford, who has a Master's degree in international broadcasting from Wheaton College, hosts a one-minute daily radio program that is produced by Compassion and played on 570 radio outlets across the country. The program, Speak Up With Compassion, features prayers of Compassion-assisted children from around the world and encourages listeners to speak up for and represent children in their communities.

Since 1952, Compassion has touched the lives of more than a million children, working with more than 65 denominations and many indigenous church partners in Africa, Asia, Central and South America and the Caribbean.
