Duggar Family News: Jessa Duggar Responds to Social Media Backlash on Sharing Photos of Unclean House

"Counting On" reality star Jessa Duggar Seewald has responded to the backlash she received after sharing photos that let fans see her "real life" as a mother. The images showed piles of used diapers, an undusted table for "at least six months," and more.

Jessa is married to Ben Seewald and is the mother of two boys, Spurgeon and Henry. She is the fifth of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's children and was first introduced in the 2004 documentary "14 Children and Pregnant Again."

Over the weekend, Jessa shared a series of photos on Instagram and captioned them with: "This is real life, y'all." By real life, she apparently meant how she, as a mother, barely had time on her hands to regularly keep their home spotless.

In the same post, she shared 10 photos from various points in their house. Apart from the above-mentioned scenes, Jessa also shared a few shots of multiple loads of laundry placed on the top of their guest room's bed, some dishes in the sink, an unwiped stovetop covered with "oil splatters and food particles" as well as the "dust collection on the front of the HVAC intake."

While some moms were able to relate to the photos and understood Jessa's message, a number of followers have voiced out their criticisms over the photos.

According to reports, one of her followers commented: "I'd be embarrassed to post this... the dust and dishes, I understand. But a pile of dirty diapers is a bit much." Another suggested: "You don't need to ignore your children to maintain simple hygiene."

In her defense, Jessa posted a follow-up message on Instagram to clarify her point and to address the scrutiny that her previously shared photos caused her. The "Counting On" star explained that the photos were taken just as she was "making out [her] housecleaning to-do list."

Jessa also said in the same post that she realized that she could have shared the after-cleaning photos as well, where no one would see anything wrong about it "but many may find fault with themselves." However, she claimed there was a reason why she did not include the said batch of photos and that was because of "reality."
