California evangelist Greg Laurie, the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship who has also attended events at the White House over the years, wrote on social media that he is “alarmed by the images” from the Capitol.

“Vibrant protest is American,” Laurie tweeted. “Violence & anarchy is not.”

Laurie went on to say that he condemns the violence and called on Democrats and Republicans to join him praying for America.

“Pray for peace on our streets, for protection & wisdom for our leaders,” he wrote.
