HTC One M10 Specs, Release Date Rumors: Wireless Charging Support And A Snapdragon 820 Processor?

Though the HTC One M9 is a fast and beautiful smartphone with a gorgeous metal design and a simple but highly customizable Android skin, a lot of people found it a bit underwhelming. Critics pointed out that the M9's battery life and camera quality weren't at par with those of its competitors. Some even said that the HTC One M9 was but a rerun of the device's previous iteration.

As such, smartphone giant HTC needs to come up with a version of its flagship device that will impress customers. Releasing a smartphone that will please HTC fans is also particularly important as HTC faces stiff competition from Samsung and Motorola.

While the company is yet to announce anything about its next flagship smartphone (which here will be called the M10, despite rumors that HTC will be dropping that moniker), this is what people know about the device so far.

Possible release date

As of now, there is no certainty that an M10 will be released, though, certainly, HTC will unveil a new flagship phone in 2016. The company usually launches its flagship handsets early in the year, either in March or April, like the One M9 which was launched in March of this year. A similar launch schedule can then be expected for a possible M10 in 2016.

Design and specs

According to Tech Radar, HTC CEO Cher Wang has said that the company intends on making significant improvements to its 2016 flagship handset's design. One of the most persistent rumors is that the HTC One M10 will have wireless charging capability. This isn't exactly an innovative change, though it would be an improvement on the HTC One M line. The One M9 did not support wireless charging.

There is also talk about the M10 having a Snapdragon 820 processor, which would significantly boost the handset's battery life.

Expert Reviews suggests that the HTC One M10's design may be based on the HTC A9, which looks very similar to the latest iPhone. The outlet also expects the M10 to have a fingerprint scanner and a camera with a backlit Sony chip.
