Wolverine 3 Movie Latest News: Hugh Jackman Talks Updates and Appearing in 'The Avengers'
There hasn't been much discussion made about the next installment of the stand-alone movie franchise "Wolverine." Nonetheless, it was already known that actor Hugh Jackman will return to play the role of the titular character.
To reveal more about "Wolverine 3," the 46-year-old Australian actor recently talked with MTV's Josh Horowitz to promote his latest robot movie "Chappie." Needless to say, the conversation segued to the purported superhero flick.
Horowitz started off by asking the "Van Helsing" star about the reported role reprisal of Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor X in the upcoming title.
"Let's just say, I'd be thrilled if he was part of it because I think that relationship is key, it's one of the keys. It was the key at the beginning and I think there's a long way to go," the actor said.
The reporter went on to probe, asking details about the development of "Wolverine 3" of whether or not the sequel will draw on a "familiar setting/storyline" from comics.
The "Real Steel" actor said that it won't. However, the writers will still pull "some comic book stuff."
"There are some things, but in typical fashion sort of one main one with a few bits here and there and then opening it up. Jim [James Mangold] and I, we've been talking about it, he has a treatment. But I mean, we're a way out from it so we're in really good shape with it. I'm really, really excited about it," Jackman added.
The discussion then traversed to the latest report of Spider-Man joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor apparently was excited in respect to the web slinger's reunion with the superhero family as well as the possibility of his mutant character also appearing in the popular franchise.
"I like to think there's that possibility for all of it, and I would even like to think more that it doesn't happen out of necessity, y'know, when someone's run it into the ground or something. I optimistically love the idea of 'What the hell, Batman versus Iron Man versus Wolverine!' Let's just chuck 'em in," he said.
"We'll see what happens, but maybe as these things go on more and more they'll want to and need to do all that stuff. I'm optimistic, I'd think it'd be great, but hey, it's not my billions of dollars behind this promise. It's easy for us to speculate, 'Why did they do that?!'" he added.
There's still no word about the release date of "Wolverine 3."
