iOS 5: Adobe PDF Reader Now Available On iOS Devices

Adobe's "PDF Reader" application is now available on Apple's iOS devices, which includes the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Adobe's portable PDF Reader allows users to view PDF files opened through their email, on the Web or from within any application that supports iOS’s "Open In" software.

Users of the app can also take advantage of its additional features as well. These features include the ability to search for text in the document itself, plus support for bookmarks, thumbnail navigation, photo zooming, sharing via email, copy and paste, single page or continuous scroll modes and even wireless printing via "iOS AirPrint."

Adobe's PDF Reader app can also be used to open ePortfolios (PDF Portfolios), PDF Packages, annotations and drawing markups. Password-protect files, documents that are secured by Adobe's "LiveCycle Rights Management" and encrypted files using AES256 are also supported.

Adobe project manager Anuj Gupta said, "Now you can quickly and efficiently view the widest range of PDF file type - including PDF Portfolios, password-protected PDF documents and Adobe LiveCycle rights-managed PDF files."

Adobe's latest software application can now be downloaded through Apple's "iTunes" store. It is the first time that Adobe has made its PDF Reader official for iOS devices.

It is compatible with iOS 4.2.5 and later versions.

Adobe also released a version of its PDF Reader app in May 2010. Version 10.1 is now arriving today to keep the two apps on par with each other technologically-wise. Its features will be compatible on both Android phones and tablets running Android 2.2 or higher.

Some Twitter users have already voiced their opinions on the new app. Twitter user @davidds6 tweeted, "Adobe reader app for iPhone installed, should be really useful on the go! #productiveapp."

However, Twitter user @developer didn't have any kind words to say about Adobe's app: "Oh man, I can't wait to download the new Adobe Reader app from the App Store!" - no one."
