iPhone 5 Release Date: Porno Sites Take Control of iPhone 4S Domains

The World Intellectual Property Forum has received a request from Apple to gain control of seven domain names related to its iPhone 4S device that currently redirect to pornographic content.

The domain name, “iPhone4s.com”, and six other domains related to its most recent iPhone release are at the center of the request.

The domain names include iPhonecamforce.com, iPhonecam4s.com, iPhoneporn4s.com, iPhonesex4s.com, iPhonexxxforce.com, and Porn4iPhones.com.

The domain names have been bought by the owners of pornographic websites, who have programmed them to redirect Internet users to mobile porn sites.

Ordinarily major tech companies would register domain names related to its new products prior to their release, however, it appears as though Apple neglected to do that in this instance.

Due to the nature of the content currently being shown by these domains it is likely Apple feels a sense of urgency to purchase them and remove any connection between the name of its recently released smartphone and pornographic content.

Apple’s complaint case number with the World Intellectual Property Organization is D2011-1897.
