'Jurassic Park 5' News, Update: Colin Trevorrow Will Not Direct Potential Sequel

Movie theater fans may yet to see Colin Trevorrow's sequel in the beloved "Jurassic Park" movie franchise titled "Jurassic World." The fourth installment in the series will be hitting the U.S. cinemas this June 12, 2015 and speculations are rife indicating that Universal Studios will certainly follow it up with a "Jurassic Park 5" or a "Jurassic World 2."

Regardless of the title, the next purported follow up will see a new director working behind the lens.

Trevorrow's revealed his willingness to move aside during the global press tour of his movie at the Paris, France World Premiere event. He was asked if he would be returning to take the reins of the next project said no.

"Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie," Trevorrow told BadTaste.it. "I would be involved in some way, but not as director."

The "Safety Not Guaranteed" director previously talked about tentative plans if his 2015 big screen offering gets a sequel.

"[Universal and I] definitely talked about [sequels] a lot. We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story," the director said.

"Jurassic World" is slated to open in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters nationwide. The story is set 22 years after the events of "Jurassic Park" in a remote island of Isla Nublar which now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park owned by the Masrani Global Corporation.

The title stars Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing, and Vincent D'Onofrio as Vic Hoskins, among others.
