Kate Beckinsale Weight Fears: Catsuit Too Tight?

Kate Beckinsale has admitted that she was worried she would not fit into her catsuit costume in the upcoming film "Underworld: Awakening."

The 38-year-old actress spent five weeks in New Orleans shooting "Contraband" ahead of the filming of "Underworld," and said that the food offered in the Louisiana city was irresistible.

Speaking to OntheRedCarpet.com, Beckinsale said, "The whole time I was preparing for 'Underworld,' I was actually shooting 'Contraband,' so New Orleans is a wonderful city, but it's not the most fantastic place to get in shape because we want to go try those beignets and all those wonderful things."

Referring the skin-tight black leather costume found in the latest installment of the film, Beckinsale continued of the city's offerings.

"It's got the worst kind of 'Underworld' suit food, really. So it was a miracle," explained the "Pearl Harbor" actress of fitting into the suit. Beckinsale compared wearing the suit to feeling "like [putting] your bikini on and standing in Times Square."

"I guess having had a lot of training for the first one, thank goodness, it wasn't quite as extensive as that," Beckinsale said. "But there were still a lot of complicated fight scenes to learn and stunts I hadn't done before."

Beckinsale, who is also a former model, is well-known for her lean figure. The British-born star also divulged her New Year’s resolution to drink water.

"I walk around holding a bottle of water a lot and my resolution this year is to actually drink it," she said. "I think I've drunk it just because I'm carrying it from the car to the house and back out again, I've just got to drink more water, I think."

The actress has a 12-year-old daughter from a past relationship, and is married to "Underworld" director Len Wiseman.

"Underworld: Awakening" is the fourth installment of the vampire series which sees Beckinsale as Selene, a warrior. The film hits theaters Jan. 20. Watch the trailer here.
