Kim Kardashian Offered Help From Former Mayor to Jump-Start Political Career

After 31-year-old reality television star Kim Kardashian announced her interest in becoming the mayor of Glendale, Calif., in a few years, the city's former mayor offered to help her accomplish the goal.

Ara Najarian, city council member and former mayor of Glendale, told E! News that it was a good idea for Kardashian to pursue a political career in the city. The former mayor even offered the reality television star a position in his office.

"It's a great idea," Najarian said. "I have offered her the position of honorary chief of staff to my office to help her get acquainted to Glendale."

However, Najarian said Kardashian may have issues running for mayor if she was not selected by other council members.

The reality star first expressed her interest in a political career in an episode of "Khloe & Lamar" that aired recently.

The Armenian-American showed an interest in becoming the mayor of Glendale, a city with a large Armenian population.

"I decided I'm going to run for the mayor of Glendale," Kardashian told her 27-year-old sister, Khloe.

The reality television star spoke about moving to the area in order to meet the requirements needed to run for the political office in the next five years.

"You have to have a full residency in Glendale," Kim told Khloe. "For real, Noel is going to head my campaign but it's going to be in like five years. So I have to buy a house there, you have to have residency there."

While many took to Twitter to question if Kardashian was joking, the Armenian-American star is reportedly looking to help her community.

"Kim has always looked for opportunities to grow and also do what she can to help and support the Armenian community," a statement from Kardashian's representative read. "She's learning more about ways in which she can help to do her part to make a difference in the community."
