'Kingdom Hearts 3' Release Date and Preview: Version 2.8 Explained, Its Importance and Other Details

Fans of Square Enix's Kingdom of Hearts 3 may have to wait till next year before getting the chance to play the hit game title. One of the perks that gamers could look forward to is the availability of the prequel to Sora's adventure in Kingdom of Hearts 2.8, says Tetsuya Nomura.

Kingdom of Hearts has been one of the best-selling games that Square Enix has developed apart from the Final Fantasy series. The success can be traced to a merger of characters from the Japanese RPG world as well as from the American Disney characters. However, complaints from the players that the game lacks continuity has prevailed since 2013 when KH3's confirmed status was under development.

Aggravating the clamor is the earlier announcement that KH3 was set to come out in 2015 but moved later into the TBD calendar. The best bet for final release date of the game is 2017.

The Bad News

The absence of details during the E3 2016 gaming event has stirred a buzz from players. Also, several rival series like Legend of Zelda has already confirmed storming the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. When the developers withdrew the announcement,  it has baffled the gamers and the enthusiasts as well.

The Good News

Not every detail of the Kingdom of Hearts series is bad. Even co-director Tai Yasue confirmed that gamers can have a taste of KH3. The 2.8 version is set for release in December of this year. He added that there is a need for starting players to grab the 2.8 first because it serves as an introductory structure to the mainframe storyline. Yasue also provided some spoilers about how KH 2.8 will look like and what players can expect for the 2.8 update. It is also added that the game would center on the adventures of the character Aqua as it journeys the Dark World.

The Nintendo Revamp

Next to come into the scene is tech giant Nintendo who appears to be trailing behind PlayStation and Xbox brands in recent months. There are reports that Nintendo and Square Enix have been cooking a deal for the inclusion of successful titles like the KH series into the NX console. Even though there are inclinations that Nintendo themselves are developing their own titles, the inclusion of a third party like Square Enix will boost the acceptability to the US market.
