'Lego Marvel's Avengers' DLC: Two New Expansion Packs Feature Characters from 'Ant-Man,' 'Captain America: Civil War'

"Lego Marvel's Avengers" will be coming with two free DLCs, one of which will come with the game on launch day. The add-on content will be available exclusively for owners of Sony's PlayStation consoles.

In a post at the PlayStation Blog, TT Games game director Arthur Parsons announced the "Lego Marvel's Avengers" expansion packs.

"LEGO Marvel's Avengers is getting some free DLC content exclusively for all PS4 and PS3 players," said Parsons. "What's even more awesome is that this content is based on the brilliant Marvel's Ant-Man movie and also one of my most anticipated films of 2016, Marvel's Captain America: Civil War."

The Captain America: Civil War Character Pack features nine characters from the upcoming movie: Captain America, Winter Soldier, Iron Man (Mark 46 armor), Scarlet Witch, Crossbones, Agent 13, Black Panther, Falcon, and War Machine. All these characters will be playable in the main game, in various levels, and in the eight open world locations.

Meanwhile, the Ant-Man Character and Level Pack, based on another upcoming movie, includes 11 characters and a level based on a section of the film. The characters featured in this pack are Ant-Man (Scott Lang), Ant-Man (Hank Pym), the flying ant Ant-Thony, Scott Lang, Hank Pym, The Wasp (Janet Van Dyne), Yellowjacket, Cassie Lang, Darren Cross, Hope Van Dyne, and Luis. This DLC will be available later in spring.

The free DLC is "quite substantial" and should boost the game's value for PS3 and PS4 owners, according to GameRant. The free DLC may still come to other platforms at a later date, adds the publication, but it will unlikely be free. Although this news may not be well received by players in other platforms, this strategy seems to be working well for Sony, which has been pushing aggressively for exclusive content to its consoles.

The two expansion packs are just the beginning as TT Games has also teased more content coming up with the season pass. The upcoming content will take inspiration from both classic comics and Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Lego Marvel's Avengers" is scheduled to release on Jan. 26 to PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, 3DS, and PC.
