Manhattan Building Collapse Kills Construction Worker, Injures 2 Others
One of three construction workers died and the others have been left injured after a Manhattan building collapse left them all trapped at a construction site.
The sudden collapse occurred at a one-story commercial building on 130th Street in Harlem, just before 8 a.m., and although initial reports had claimed that all three were rescued and treated for non-life threatening injuries, one worker was pronounced dead shortly after the incident, according to The New York Post.
The workers were working on the one-story building at 7:51 a.m. when the accident occurred, resulting in one man being crushed to death.
A second man was was safely rescued and immediately transported to St. Luke's Hospital where police confirmed that he remains in a stable condition.
The FDNY was able to free the third worker, who was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
The incident left the community shaken with some being reminded of a a building collapse which occurred in November at Brighton Beach leaving thre workers injured.
In an almost identical scene, firefighters frantically tried to rescue the three construction workers after the collapse left them trapped underneath rubble, and all were treated for serious injuries, according to CBS News.
While some reports have reported on a fourth victim in Thursday's fatal accident, so far police have only been able to confirm the three victims.
