Manny Pacquiao Fight News: 'Pacman' Reiterates Retirement Plans, Says Comeback Is the 'Last Thing He Wants to Do'

Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao reiterated his plans to finally walk away from the sport of boxing on April 9th, after two decades of actively fighting inside the ring.

"Pacman" will be embarking on his 66th and final professional fight in a rubber match against former WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. After which, he will be shifting his full focus to become a politician in the Philippines.

Pacquiao is one of the Senatorial candidates who are running for office at the 2016 Philippine Elections, which is scheduled to take place on May 9th.

Yet, despite his repeated announcement for retirement in the past, many still believe that the first and only eight-division world boxing champion would be continuing with his fighting career. As of late, his name has been thrown in the mix with that of WBC middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez for a possible fight in the future.

But Pacquiao once again voiced out his plans after April 9th, in a report by Lyle Fitzsimmons for Boxingscene.

"The last thing I want to do is make a comeback," Pacquiao said. "I want to be sure that boxing is completely out of my system when I hang up my gloves. In my mind, this could be my last fight."

Pacquiao also restated his plans to spend more time with his family, and as a public servant, adding that he would be 'evaluating' his plans after facing Bradley. He also noted how he has 'trained as if it was his last fight', and that he intends to leave a performance that will leave his fans completely satisfied.

In May, Pacquiao went under major criticism after a lopsided performance against Floyd Mayweather Jr. He then reasoned out that he was fighting injured, and was then found to have torn the rotator cuff on his right shoulder.
