Mara Wilson Reveals Why She Quit Acting
Former actress Mara Wilson decided when she was relatively young that she wanted to stop working in Hollywood, leaving many to wonder why she would walk away from a successful career. Now 26, Wilson has opened up about her experiences in Hollywood and why she chose to leave.
"It was sort of a slow realization. I think it was the realization that I didn't have to do it anymore. It felt like a constant in my life for a very long time… but I was never really that crazy about it after 'Matilda,' I would say," Wilson told the Huffington Post's Caitlyn Becker.
Wilson first starred in the hit film "Mrs. Doubtfire" before being case on "Melrose Place" and as the lead in a remake of "Miracle on 34th Street" and another hit movie, "Matilda," based on the book by Roald Dahl. By that point, she had just had enough of acting and wanted to move on to the next phase of her life.

"I was 13 and I was awkward and I was gawky, and I was not a very cute kid anymore. So, Hollywood didn't really want me at that point, and I was kind of over it, too. So, after a while, it feels like a mutual breakup. That's the way that I'd describe it," Wilson said.
She has managed to come back into popularity again, with perhaps those who "knew her when" with her blog, Mara Wilson
Writes Stuff. Wilson also penned a post for the blog Cracked about the pressures of being a child star and why some don't handle the pressure so well. She currently has over 68,000 followers on Twitter, making her quite popular.
People have applauded Wilson for her decision and ability to clearly discern what she should be doing now.
