'Mike' Saved Him From Committing Suicide, Now He's Trying to Find 'Mike' and Thank Him - You Can Help! (VIDEO)

When Jonny Benjamin was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder six years ago, he was devastated. Sufferers of the illness experience delusions, hallucinations and other symptoms associated with schizophrenia and significant disturbances in their mood. He couldn't bear the thought of living with the illness, so he walked onto the Waterloo Bridge in London and climbed over the railing. He wanted to commit suicide by jumping into the River Thames below.

However, a passerby stopped the 20-year-old before he could go through with it. Benjamin told BBC Radio 4 that the man told him, "Please don't do this, mate. You can get through it. You can get better. Let's go for a coffee and talk it over."

Benjamin climbed back to safety, and authorities took him to the hospital. He has now gone on to recover from his suicidal thoughts, and can now manage his illness, but he is desperate to thank the stranger who he credits with saving his life. However, he can't remember his name – he thinks it's Mike – and doesn't know anything about him. So, he's turning to social media in a campaign to find "Mike."

"He was the first person to give me hope," Benjamin states the campaign video below. "His words actually prompted my recovery."
