MMA Latest News 2015: Jon Jones Gets First New Sponsor Since Suspension

After the news of his UFC suspension getting lifted, Jon Jones is back in the mix, wasting no time and going down to business by signing a new sponsorship deal with a renowned sports nutrition company called GAT.

In a press release, Jones said, "I am very grateful to have such a terrific brand like GAT sponsor me as one of their athletes." He added that he is excited to take the GAT brand in his journey of becoming the number 1 fighter in mixed martial arts.

The American former UFC light heavyweight champion is no stranger to obtaining big promotional deals and sponsorships, having donned several brands particularly nutritional supplement companies. However, majority of those deals were cut short and terminated when the mixed martial artist was charged with felony hit-and-run in an April incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico. One of those big names that immediately parted ways with Jones was MuscleTech.

But it certainly looks like the 28-year-old has redeemed himself after the suspension from the UFC, inking a new deal with shoe giant Reebok, as well as GAT.

GAT for its part seems committed to having its brand represented by one of the fiercest fighters in The Octagon. "This is a very exciting athlete signing for GAT, Jon Jones is regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, and we want to support Jon's mission to once again become the world light heavyweight champion," CEO Charles Moser said in the press release.

Comeback Fight

There is no word yet as to when will Jones make a return to action, but UFC recently said that his first fight will definitely be a championship bout where he is slated to challenge the current light heavyweight champ, Daniel Cormier. Interestingly, Jones already owns a win against the champion. It still remains to be seen if Jones can complete his comeback by grabbing the same title he once held.
