'Mr. Robot' Season 3 Release Date, Spoilers News: Elliot Struggles Against a Ghost in His Mind

Most crime and thriller series delve into straightforward plots that deal with outside forces. But when the conflict lies within, that's when the story gets even more interesting, and that's where "Mr. Robot" builds its realm.

With its third season confirmed, fans discuss among themselves where the story will be heading to. The most popular speculation surrounding the series is that Krista (Gloria Reuben) will continue to do her best to aid Elliot (Rami Malek) in ridding Edward (Christian Slater) from his head.

It can be recalled that Elliot suffered a great deal of misery due to Edward influencing his thoughts in season 2. Edward is perceived as an illusory father-figure and has led Elliot to think of things convincingly even if fact presents things otherwise. It just goes to show that this delusion is debilitating him very much.

Season 3 could be the stage in which he finally wards him off, if not, begin to cast the hallucination away. With Krista's help, it may still be a long road, but not impossible at that, given her patience in making sure he succeeds this time around.

The depth of even an imaginary character is so palpable, and that may be the reason why fans are so hooked to the series. In an interview with Deadline, show creator Sam Esmail mentioned that season 3 could be described by the word "disintegration," and he gives further clues in his following statement.

"The thing is we never play delusion," Esmail explained. "Christian (Slater) plays a human with relatable emotion — the fight for existence and survival; he wants to live as much as Elliot. He plays a person," he added.

If anything, this just gives rise to further speculations on what happens. By disintegration, it could mean that Edward would be gone, or worse Elliot might develop a split personality, in which only one of them could exist in his body at a given time.

Since the announcement of season 3, fans have been scouring for more information on what to expect. No news has been heard yet regarding a specific date, but "Mr. Robot" should be back within 2017.
