'Nashville' Season 4 Cast News, Update: Eric Close Won't Be Returning as a Series Regular in Upcoming Season

The upcoming return of the hit musical-comedy TV drama series "Nashville" will feature less political issues as what this latest casting report said.

A report from TV Line indicated that Eric Close, who plays the character Teddy Conrad, will no longer be a series regular in the popular ABC scripted program.

According to the publication, who claimed to have learned the latest casting development over the weekend, Close's status change "is part of a larger creative effort to place the focus of the show squarely on the music business."

Season 3 ended with Teddy getting arrested after the authorities got wind up with his crimes of "embezzling official funds" to pay off a "high-priced call girl."

As how the events unravelled, there is a huge probability that fans of the show will see Conrad, if ever he'd get some ample screen time, spending his time in jail.

Nevertheless, the site believes that there's "a very good chance Close will be back as a guest star" in order for his character to tackle on the issue concerning Connie Britton's Rayna Jaymes, Conrad's ex, and his two daughters, Maddie (Lennon Stella) and Daphne (Maisy Stella).

As of the moment, there's still no official statement from network.

On related news, production for Season 4 is already undergoing. "Nashville" writers were busy updating their fans through social media.

"It's official, y'all — we're back in action! Today's the first day we begin to work on Season 4!! Stay tuned for lots of updates! #Nashville," the Twitter post reads.

As reported earlier, the new chapter of the show will resolve several issues including the relationship between Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) and Avery (Jonathan Jackson) as well as Will's (Chris Carmack) future now that he revealed his true sexual identity.

"Nashville" Season 4 is slated to premiere this fall on ABC.
