NBA Trade Rumors 2016: Greg Monroe To Be Kept In Bucks Roster; Kings Ready To Trade Gay, McLemore But Didn't
Milwaukee Bucks big man Greg Monroe will not be going anywhere, despite rumors that he is set to be released from the roster.
In a report by Jeff Zillgitt for USA Today Sports, several teams got in touch with the Bucks' management for a possible deal involving Monroe. However, it was immediately shut down, noting that there is "zero chances" for the 25-year-old professional basketball player to be traded.
Monroe, who is a first round pick (seventh overall) during the 2010 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons, was signed by the Bucks in 2015 in a three-year, $50 million contract. For the current season alone, he has played in a total of 52 games, and is averaging 16.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 0,9 blocks, 2.3 assists, and 0.9 steals, through 30.5 minutes of playing time per game.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings were set to release two of their players: small forward Rudy Gay and shooting guard Ben McLemore.
In a report by Ryan Devault for the Inquisitr, four teams were reportedly interested in signing Gay: the Los Angeles Clippers, the Miami Heat, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Detroit Pistons. McLemore, on the other hand, had reportedly drawn interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"The inherent risk is that the Kings hold on to all their players and then miss the playoffs. If the team acts now, it could possibly trade Rudy Gay and Ben McLemore in separate deals to acquire first-round picks in the 2016 NBA Draft. If the Kings miss the playoffs, they will get a lottery pick with their own selection, but the possibility of adding more picks has to be enticing," an excerpt of Devault's report reads.
However, now that the February 18 trade deadline has passed, both players are staying with the Kings.
For the current season, Gay has played in a total of 46 games and is averaging 17.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocks, through 33.6 minutes of playing time per game.
McLemore, on the other hand, has played in 49 games and is averaging 7.7 points, 1.2 assists, and 2.1 rebounds, through 21.0 minutes of playing time per game.
