'NCIS' Season 13 Cast News: '24' Alum Sarah Clarke Joins Cast As New Special Agent

Long-running police procedural drama "NCIS" has added actress Sarah Clarke to its season 13 cast list.

With original main cast member Michael Weatherly's (Special Agent Tony DiNozzo) impending exit at the end of the current season, it appears that the CBS drama is expanding its roster to make up for the actor's absence.

Clarke, who is best known for playing CTU agent Nina Myers in the first three seasons of "24" and Bella Swan's (Kristen Stewart) mother, Renee Dwyer, in "Twilight" (2008), is poised to guest-star in the last two episodes of the current season. According to Entertainment Weekly, Clarke also has the option of staying on as a series regular in season 14.

The actress will reportedly play the role of new FBI special agent Tess Monroe.

As TVLine first reported in January, Monroe is a newly-transfered agent from New York City who has been through multiple divorces and has no children. She considers her fellow agents as family and is described as "quick-witted, tough, and shrewd." Though she appears to be the no-nonsense type, Monroe is said to have a big heart. She values honor, justice, and doing the right thing, and will fight to uphold these values and protect her team. Monroe is also said to be fiercely determined, strong, sexy, and sarcastic.

"We feel so fortunate to have Sarah Clarke joining us to play Tess," "NCIS" showrunner Gary Glasberg said in a statement, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. "I've been a fan of hers going back to '24' and more recently 'Bosch.' She's a gifted actress, a total pro, and we can't wait to introduce her to our 'NCIS' family and have some fun."

Clarke has also appeared in "Nikita," "The Tomorrow People," and "Covert Affairs," in which she also portrayed a federal agent.

The next season of "NCIS" will be marked with major changes, with Clarke potentially joining the "NCIS" ensemble as a regular cast member and Weatherly set to depart with this season's end after a 13-year run.

"NCIS" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
