New Inspirational Boy Band 3for3 Aims to Inspire Secular World With Unique Sound (Interview)

While Benji said he faces challenges working on his issues with pride in the band, Spencer faces challenges with his patience. Despite the trying times, worship leader and American Idol alumnus Spencer doesn't want to rush the process to make his dreams come true.

"I think you have to realize that it's a process. The world that we live in is so full of people who are looking for instant gratification and they're able to get it now," Spencer told CP. "Whatever they want, they feel it instantly in the moment. We still have a lot to do and a lot to work toward."

The trifecta is currently touring the country with their new sound, and are gaining new fans of all ages from all walks of life. Although their music is inspirational, each member has a specific goal in mind for how they want their music to be received by the people they encounter.

"What we want to do with our music is make something that anybody can listen. And people who aren't into inspirational music can hear it and like it just as much as anything that they would listen to," Benji added. "We want to bring a message to that style of music. You hear a lot of music that is really catchy and really pop ... a lot of it in a way really lacks substance, so that's what we want to do."

Spencer, who has an affinity for writing love songs, wants to bring that element to the forefront of what 3for3 does.

"I want to be a positive light to the world," he told CP. "My first goal was to bring a positive light to the way relationships between a man and a woman should be and the respect that women deserve."

Although faith is an important element in the group's life, Josh wants to make sure that they are led by God, not people's expectations for the type of music they should sing.

"I don't want to limit us as a group. If that means going into a secular world and being a light in the secular world, I will do that. If it means staying in the Christian world we'll do that, wherever God leads us," Josh said. "We're just trying to see people and speak love to people, speak life to people and just be a light wherever we can."

After the 3for3 single "Halfway" became the most added single on Billboard Magazine's Christian HOT AC/CHR singles chart early in the summer, the head of their record label said he believes the early success is a sign that God has given them a stamp of approval.

"That was a huge accomplishment for a brand new artist and a brand new label to come out on top in their very first week. So hoping and praying that this is God's confirmation that we are doing exactly what we're supposed to do," Solarek previously told CP. "We're trying to respond to what we think is a desperate need for positive music in our culture and have lyrics that are coming from a faith-based perspective without being necessarily preachy. So we wanted to be encouraging and positive on a lyrical level, but we want the music to sound like top 40 music."
