Sarah Palin and her family were reportedly involved in a physical brawl over the weekend and police are investigating the incident.

The former vice-presidential candidate and her family attended a party to celebrate several birthdays, including Palin's own husband Todd's, however, upon their arrival violence ensued. The event was held on Saturday in South Anchorage, Alaska, and roughly 20 people were involved in the brawl.

Palin's oldest son Track, 25, and her daughter Bristol, 23, reportedly flipped out after learning that a former boyfriend of their sister Willow was at the party. Words were exchanged and things quickly turned physical, which resulted in Todd sustaining a bloodied nose, unconfirmed reports claim.

Bristol is accused of throwing punches and attacking the host of the party, however, she has not publicly addressed these claims.

Police have released limited details about the incident as the investigation is ongoing, but in a statement they confirmed that alcohol may have been a factor.

"Anchorage police responded to a report of a verbal and physical altercation taking place between multiple subjects," according to a statement released by police. "Alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the incident."

The party was held to honor the birthdays of former participants in the Iron Dog snowmobile race, including Todd. In the end, the Palin family was ordered to leave.

The incident comes three years after Bristol was embroiled in a bar fight and subsequently sued over the incident.

At the time the "Dancing With The Stars" alum confronted bar patron Stephen Hanks at the Saddle Ranch bar in Los Angeles after he made derogatory remarks about her and her mother.

"Did you ride Levi like that?" Hanks yelled at Bristol as she rode a mechanical bull. "Your mother's a whore! Your mother's a f------ whore, she's the devil!"

Within seconds Bristol approached the man and the two had a heated exchange before she left the premises.

"Bristol Palin's conduct was outrageous," Hanks stated in his lawsuit.
