'Penny Dreadful' Season 2 Release Date, Cast News: Show Honored in Time for the Holidays
While it could be true that "Penny Dreadful" is just one of Showtime's "more low-profile shows," its unique kind of storytelling and gothic tone make it one of 2014's best programs.
Enstarz.com reported that the cast and crew of the hit horror drama are now heading for their winter hibernation. However, the show has some other reasons to celebrate this season. Producer Christopher King took to his social media to say his thanks after the Victorian-era drama was given a nod for being one of the best shows of the year.
"Thanks #THR for listing #PennyDreadful as one of the best TV shows of 2014 @SHO_Penny @SHO_PR." King posted on his Twitter.
As indicated, The Hollywood Reporter listed 31 best TV programs in which "Penny Dreadful" came in at the 26th spot.
Over the weekend, the Frankenstein actor was also recognized as one of this year's "Breakout Stars."
Indiewire.com, who posted their Best Breakout TV Actors of 2014 list last week, placed Harry Treadaway in the no. 6 spot.
"He may not be given the show-stopping scenes of co-star Eva Green, but his introverted inclinations are an ideal foil for her grandiose drama. Treadaway knows exactly how to play his character for the betterment of the story, and for that, we take notice," IndieWire commended the actor.
Treadaway plays the infamous Victor Frankenstein who is quite brilliant in his career field as a doctor capable of giving life to a once-dead body.
The character was written "as both a somewhat passive man of science and strong-willed believer in what others deem impossible," the site continued.
As for the show, the second season will resume its production in Dublin next month. Nearly half of the brand new episodes are already completed.
