'Penny Dreadful' Season Renewal News: Showtime Orders Another Season of Hit Horror Drama

Avid viewers of Showtime's hit gothic horror TV drama series "Penny Dreadful" will get to see more adventures of its beloved characters. The show is now renewed for another season.

The news broke out early this week indicating that the cable network has ordered a third installment of the show. The brand new upcoming chapter will also be consisted of nine episodes which will premiere in 2016.

"[Writer and executive producer] John Logan's brilliant writing and this amazingly talented ensemble continue to draw a passionate, global fan base into the meticulously crafted world of Penny Dreadful," Showtime Networks Inc. president David Nevins said in a statement.

"Together with our wonderful partners at Sky Atlantic, we're excited to see what new haunts John and his team have in store for Season 3," he continued.

Production on Season 3 is reported to commence this fall in Dublin, Ireland which, as it turns out, the filming location of Season 1 and Season 2.

The current season, which now has three episodes left before its conclusion, tackles on Vanessa Ives (Eva Green), Ethan (Josh Hartnett), Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and the rest of the company struggling to foil the evil plans of Season 2's big bad, Evelyn Poole (Helen McCrory), and her evil witch minions.

The upcoming episode, which will air this Sunday, June 21, is titled "Memento Mori" and will be followed by next weekend with an episode called "And Hell Itself My Only Foe." The finale "And They Were Enemies" will air on July 5.
