Philip Rivers the New Tony Romo?

San Diego Chargers’ quarterback Philip Rivers made a costly fumble on Monday night that allowed the Kansas City Chiefs to beat his team.

Rivers expressed deep regret for his costly mistake.

“This is the worst day ever," Rivers said.

Although Rivers’ team was trailing the Chiefs for the entire game, they had a chance to come back in regulation. Instead, Rivers fumbled a snap with first-and-10 and only 48 seconds left on the clock.

The latest upset from Rivers caused many people to criticize the quarterback’s abilities on Twitter.

"What a terrible, terrible loss for the quarterback who used to be Philip Rivers," ESPN analyst Skip Bayless said.

Another person took to the social network to compare Rivers and another troubled QB.

“Philip Rivers Halloween Costume is apparently Tony Romo," the person tweeted.

The QB was the center of many jokes on the social network.

“If you hold a shell up to your ear, you can hear Philip Rivers crying," another person tweeted.

Rivers spoke to NFL networks about the unfortunate incident that cost his team a win.

"I haven't had one in years," Rivers said. "It's unfortunate. I dropped it. This one is rough. You blow it on a play that never should have happened."

After the game on Monday night, the Chargers’ QB is leading the NFL with 13 giveaways, 11 interceptions and two fumbles, according to ESPN. Rivers managed to complete four straight passes covering 74 yards.

Norv Turner, Chargers’ coach, spoke about the unorthodox loss at the hands of Rivers.

"They had no timeouts. We were in position to go kick the game-winning field goal," Turner said, according to NFL networks. "It didn't happen. It looked to me like Philip got a little anxious and came out early. That's a very unusual way to not win a game."
