PS4 Vs. Xbox One: Battle of the Software

The Xbox One and PS4 war is heating up more and more each day as new games launch and stories hit the internet revealing new facts about each console.

Sony and Microsoft both set out to put their best feet forward in 2014 in attempts to move their core audiences away from their tremendously successful predecessors and towards the PS4 and Xbox One. IGN.com released a video series this month that takes a detailed look at various aspects on both next-gen consoles including areas such as controller, hardware, games, software and online.

This site took a closer look at the software used to give both of these systems their appeal. See it here.

"The PS4's system software is clean, lightweight and fast," said IGN's Scott Lowe regarding Sony's system. "When you fire it up you don't have to navigate through layers of menus to launch a game or check out your messages. It's all just presented up front"

He also states that the software found on the PS4 interacts much better with the online community than past iterations found on older consoles. Players also have the ability to identify themselves here with their Facebook pages. They can even share their gameplay through U Stream.

The site's Fran Mirabella weighed in on the Xbox One's software capabilities.

"The true magic of Xbox One happens under the hood," he said. "With Kinect's camera and voice commands your gaming console experience is truly changed. You're signed in automatically when the camera sees you."

Users can also jump to a game or their achievements by saying Xbox go to. Voice commands can also be used to record users playing their favorite titles. Upload studio will allow them to edit or add things to these videos taken from their gameplay.
