'Quantico' Season 2 Spoilers, Release Date and Updates: New Love Interest Between Alex and Ryan? New Dilemmas and Cast Details

With "Quantico" Season 2 fast approaching this September, more news comes in about everyone's favorite secret agent, Alex Parrish. In the latest installment of the series, Alex is set to join the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

More importantly, however, fans are ready to see Alex and Ryan Booth's romance blossom into something more. They are witness to the sizzling hot chemistry, the intimacy with which the two regard each other, and the epic badassery whenever they get involved in hot chases or shootouts. Despite the complications surrounding their relationship, they just work together on so many levels.

So, it comes as no surprise that showrunner Josh Safran had promised that the two will finally get together in the next season. Safran had even teased that the first time viewers see Alex, she will be seen with Ryan. Though, Safran does caution fans to moderate their excitement as everything will go wrong for couple within 45 seconds.

New love interest?

Rumors suggest that a new character could possibly come between the fan-favorite "Quantico" couple.

It is already known that a colorful roster of new characters is coming its way on Season 2, as Alex makes her way into the Secret Service. First, there is Russell Tovey as the mysterious Harry Doyle, and then there is Pearl Thusi as Harvard lawyer Dayana Mampasi. Not to be forgotten is Blair Underwood as Owen Hall, and lastly, Tracy Ifeachor as prodigious actuary Lydia.

But the casting call for Harry Doyle's character calls attention to itself, as he is described as "just as likely to seduce your husband as he is to pick his pocket when it's over." Could this mean that the artful yet mischievous dodger Harry possibly be a new love interest between Alex and Ryan? (Not to mention, of course, that "Looking" star Tovey is quite a looker as well).

New dilemmas

Apart from the possible fallout in terms of her love life, Alex is also faced with a greater challenge: adjusting to the CIA life. In the "Quantico" universe, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (from where she came) and the CIA do not get along together. So fans can definitely expect several flashpoints between the two federal agencies in Season 2.

Apart from that, a new headache for Alex in the form of photojournalist Leon Velez can be anticipated in the next season. Velez is played by Aaron Diaz. Now, it seems like Alex will also have to dodge the press as well, as Velez's character is depicted as someone who is ready to get his hands dirty on the job.

Excited for the latest season of "Quantico" yet? Watch out for its season premiere on September 25, 10 p.m. ET., on ABC.
