Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3-Inch Version to Feature LTE Support

The 6.3-inch version of the Samsung Galaxy Mega was recently spotted at the FCC with LTE support.

The new device will not support 4G bands so it might not be shipping in countries such as the U.S. Russia will receive this version of the Galaxy Mega. There is also a chance that it will launch in various countries throughout Asia and Africa. These are places where one of the main constraints of buying a smartphone is price.

Samsung's Galaxy Mega smartphone-tablet line that also features a 5.8-inch model was recently confirmed by the company.

The 6.3-inch model comes with an HD display, which has close to 720p resolution. It also comes with a dual-core 1.7GHz processor, Android 4.2, an 8-megapixel camera and multiple software features such as Air View, Multi Windows, and Pop-up Play.

The device also comes with GPS, GLONASS, and a 3,200mAh battery to keep the phone powered while using all of these features. Users will also be able to install a microSD card in order to expand the Galaxy Mega's memory.

The Galaxy Mega 5.8-inch model comes with HSPA connectivity only. It features a qHD display with 960 x 540 resolution with a 1.4GHz dual-core processor. It comes with the same 8-megapixel camera as the larger version and is sold with only 8GB of internal storage.

There has been no word on pricing yet for either of these devices.

The Galaxy Mega's 6.3-inch screen falls just below the Samsung's flagship Galaxy Tab 7.0 in terms of size. The company appears to be unafraid to release at device at any screen size. And even though these two behemoths trump the Galaxy Note 2 in screen size, the S Pen accessory is noticeably absent here, making them nothing more than blown up versions of smaller Samsung devices.
