'Scandal' Season 7 Episode 5 Spoilers: Fitz Takes Mellie's Side over Olivia's

Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) will continue to disappoint Olivia (Kerry Washington) in the upcoming episode of "Scandal."

In the episode titled "Adventures in Babysitting," the synopsis reveals that both Olivia and Mellie (Bellamy Young) will not waste time asserting their powers. The two cannot seem to agree on the best way to approach the problem involving Bashran. As expected, Olivia thinks that her way is the correct one and that Mellie is just being stubborn. What she will not anticipate is Fitz's decision to take the POTUS' side and not hers.

The promo shows the ex-president and Olivia having an ugly confrontation. She cannot believe that Fitz will betray her. For his part, he still seems angry about the fact that he caught Olivia and Curtis (Jay Hernandez) in an uncompromising situation.

Fitz returned to Washington because he missed his ladylove. He did not expect that she would treat him with animosity upon his arrival. He was certainly upset that Olivia seemed to have forgotten him and found a new man to love.

Fitz then told Olivia that he could not stay in Vermont and be away from her any longer. Although they exchanged hurtful words, the two still shared a kiss, making the "Olitz" fans happy.

Meanwhile, the episode will also see Cyrus (Jeff Perry) making his move regarding the looming upheaval with Bashran. Last episode, Mellie and President Rashad (Faran Tahir) barely reacted when the other country declared war against the US. Of course, the two were also busy dealing with all the sexual tension between them.

Mellie told Cyrus that she was done keeping her distance with Rashad. She almost succeeded in persuading him to spend the night with her. Their relationship is expected to cause problems with regards to the connection between the two countries

Elsewhere, Quinn (Katie Lowes) and the QPA will be keeping a close watch on Rashad's niece. With all the complications appearing left and right, they cannot afford to be lax and commit mistakes.

"Scandal" season 7 airs Thursdays, at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
