See the World Through the Eyes of Someone With Non-Verbal Autism (VIDEO)

Credit :

Carly Fleischmann is an 18-year-old woman with non-verbal autism. She understands what's going on around her – too well, in fact, because her senses interpret her surroundings with a superhuman sensitivity. But it's not like in the comic books. It can be painful.

Her condition prevents her from making her body do what she wants, and she's unable to speak to communicate her lucid thinking. As she says at the beginning of this video, "Autism has locked me inside a body I cannot control."

The unique video, based on an excerpt from her book "Carly's Voice," is an eye-opening portrayal of how something as simple as getting coffee can be a chaotic and upsetting experience for people with autism.
