Nine-time Grammy winner John Legend traces his musical roots back to church, where he led choirs in his youth and directed music during college. In this 2011 video from his YouTube channel, Legend returns to his roots by dropping by Calvary Baptist Church in West Philadelphia for a surprise gospel performance of "How I Got Over" by Clara Ward and popularized by Aretha Franklin.
