New marriages

First, Lily (Rachel Shenton) and Toby (Lucas Grabeel) are finally tying up the knot! They have recently become the expectant parents to Carlton Summers-Kennish, and we can only imagine the lovely couple becoming wonderful parents. It is an especially hopeful note amid the constant drama surrounding the family, so it will be interesting to see how they handle parenthood.

Subject of rumors

Of course, "Switched at Birth" would not be be without some sort of trouble for our protagonists, and this time it comes in the form of Luca (played by "Jane the Virgin's" Michael Galante). He is Regina's new, younger boyfriend–exactly the sort of rumor fuel that rocks the entire neighborhood. How will Bay and Daphne cope with this new development? Will they talk her out of it?

Daphe and her beau, Mingo (Adam Hagenbuch) are to share the blame for that as well. They attend a party dressed up in Lil Wayne costumes, angering their black classmates. Whoops. How will they address accusations of black appropriation?

Season premiere: The Call

Obviously, the season premiere will also discuss the fateful emergency call that Bay received in China, which would eventually send them rushing home for Switched at Birth's Season 5. All fingers are pointing at a possible John (D.W. Moffett) - Kathryn (Lea Thompson) divorce, whose marriage has long since been on the rocks due to money problems.

Fans also have not ruled out the possibility of John dying, especially with his worsening health condition. Of course, killing off a main character (though a vile man at that) so near to the finale would just be so cruel. But as Bustle pointed out, Kathryn needs to have some happiness of her own.

Excited to wrap up the Kennish's story? Catch it on January 24, 2017!
