The Cross

Simon of Cyrene was compelled to carry the cross of Jesus. Through the cross he had to bear, Simon was able to understand the deep pain and suffering of Jesus. Simon was the father of Alexander and Rufus (Mark 15:21). It has been said that Alexander and Rufus were known in the early church as Christians. Simon's whole family must have converted to Christianity after the event of Jesus' cross. Let us remember the suffering of Jesus and carry the cross for him on this day.
