Theo James and Shailene Woodley News: Actor Talks Relationship With Shailene in 'Divergent'
During the promotional tour for "Divergent" earlier this year, much of the questions aimed at Shailene Woodley and Theo James focused on their relationship and scenes together. Now that the DVD for the film has been released, fans have gotten more info about how the actor really felt about the 22-year old actress, and more specifically about the two of them in the film as Four and Tris.
He also revealed that they had to do more than one take for the scene.
"The kissing scene with Shai and I, we wanted that to be as good as possible. Because it's the only scene where [Four and Tris] get together, and we wanted it to be real and not just be lots of cheese," said James.
"So we shot that a second time because the first time it didn't feel right, and we wanted to honor it in the way that it earned. There's not lots of banging eyelids and fawning towards each other. It's quite a functional, tough, intricate relationship," he added.
James also talked about working with Woodley and their onscreen chemistry.
"When you start a movie, you don't really know each other, you're trying to feel each other out. There's a bit of excitement, nervousness— who are these people? Are they going to piss me off? Or am I going to think they're awesome? Or whatever. And then as you get to know each other, more true feelings of friendship and caring come in. And that's the same with Tris and Four," he explained.
James and Woodley are currently filming "Insurgent," the second installment in the "Divergent" movies, which will be released on March 20, 2015.
