This week marks the anniversary of the birth of Protestant Reformer Ulrich Zwingli, who was born in Wildhaus, Switzerland, the son of a village magistrate.

A priest by profession, Zwingli became an influential Protestant leader who used preaching and literature to spread his views among the Swiss cantons.

Despite having the label Protestant, he periodically found himself at odds with German contemporary Martin Luther, especially on issues like the significance of the sacraments.
