4. 'Jesus never compromised'
Pastor John K. Amanchukwu Sr. delivered a fiery revival-style message warning against the church’s drift from biblical truth.
Quoting from Amos 3:3 — “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” — Amanchukwu reminded pastors that “God still demands holiness in His Church.”
The preacher, author and activist criticized modern preaching that avoids “words like sin, repentance and Hell,” and instead favors “love, kindness and non-judgmental" messages.
He lambasted what he called “Baskin-Robbins theology” in churches where “donors dictate doctrine,” adding that “social justice replaces biblical justice.”
He pointed to several biblical figures who compromised, including Adam choosing Eve over God’s command, Lot pitching his tent toward Sodom, Solomon loving foreign women and foreign gods, Peter denying Christ, and Ananias and Sapphira lying to the Holy Spirit.
“Jesus never compromised,” he said. “He did not bow to Satan for kingdoms. Truth unfettered by the stains of the culture cannot be compromised; it can only be rejected or received.”
While telling the audience he believes Jesus “wasn’t white as Brett Favre or wasn’t as black or brown” as himself, Amanchukwu also criticized Al Sharpton — who recently said black Americans should not celebrate America’s 250th anniversary — as a “race hustler” and “race baiter.”
“I may have come as a slave, but I’m not a slave anymore, baby!” Amanchukwu added. “My starting place is not my finishing place. I look forward to celebrating July 4th.”
