Trump’s week in review: Weed farm raids, restricting public benefits for illegal immigrants
4. Restricts illegal immigrants from taxpayer benefits

The Trump administration announced on Thursday that it is taking steps to prevent those who entered the country illegally from taking advantage of assorted taxpayer benefits.
The actions taken by the administration at the direction of Trump will preserve "roughly $40 billion in benefits for American citizens, overturns decades of bureaucratic defiance and builds on President Trump's executive order directing an END to the subsidization of open borders," the announcement states.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will restrict illegal immigrants from 13 public programs. Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Education will end free tuition for illegal immigrants for various education programs.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture will restrict illegal immigrants from participating in federally funded food assistance programs, and the U.S. Department of Labor will bar immigrants who entered the country illegally from accessing federal workforce development resources. The U.S. Department of Justice will close longstanding loopholes that allowed illegal immigrants to receive taxpayer-funded benefits.
